Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the issue? Are you recalling products?

A: We are voluntarily recalling certain Kidde fire extinguishers due to a potential safety issue.

In cooperation with the relevant authorities, we are notifying customers with instructions for returning the affected models and how to replace them with different, unaffected models.

Q: What should I do if I am unsure if my extinguisher is affected?

A: Contact us on 0-800-088-5513 (UK) or +44 (0)-208-089-1702 (UK customers calling from outside the UK) for further assistance on identifying whether you have an affected product.

Q: What should consumers do with their affected extinguishers?

A: Consumers should immediately contact Kidde recall support on 0-800-088-5513 (UK) or +44 (0)-208-089-1702 (UK customers calling from outside the UK) to request a free replacement fire extinguisher and for instructions on returning the recalled unit, as it may not work properly in a fire emergency. Please retain your existing extinguisher(s) until your replacement(s) has been received. Upon receipt of your new fire extinguisher(s) you will find instructions regarding what to do with your affected fire extinguisher(s).

Q: How do consumers get a replacement unit?

A: Consumers should register their product for a replacement fire extinguisher. Alternatively, please contact 0-800-088-5513 (UK) or +44 (0)-208-089-1702 (UK customers calling from outside the UK).

Q: When will a substitute replacement be available?

A: None of the affected fire extinguishers remain on sale in UK.  Every end-user who has an affected product will be offered a Kidde KS1KG 1kg multi-purpose fire extinguisher as a free of charge replacement.

Q: How quickly will customers get their replacement units?

A: Replacement units will be shipped within approximately 10 to 15 business days.

Q: How will consumers identify if they have a fire extinguisher that is affected?

A: The model number can usually be found on the bottom right or bottom left of the fire extinguisher label.
